QUICK SNAPS – Philadelphia Eagles

Quick Snaps brings you a brief look at the news you might have missed over the course of the pre-season. Next up, the trade-happy Eagles.

It was hard to miss anything that the Eagles did over the off-season. Every single thing that they did, from sacking Chip Kelly to trading up for Carson Wentz, to the extravagant signing of Chase Daniel (how much for a backup?!) and the trading of Sam Bradford, was played out in the full glare of the press. Indeed, there were times when the busiest squad in the organisation were Jeffrey Lurie‘s media managers.

All of this is covered in our full season preview but there are one or two things which did, as a result of all of that media traffic, fly under the radar. Things such as the rise of unheralded rookie wideout Paul Turner, whose ascent was so rapid that veteran receivers Chris Clemons and Rueben Randle were shown the door long before August was over.

There were also a couple of other big signings. Free agent Stephan Tulloch will shore up the secondary, whilst picking up Dorial Green-Beckham looks to have been an especially shrewd move given the events of the past week.

After all of this, it will be fascinating to see how the season plays out in Philly. Will Wentz be the next Andrew Luck, or will we see Daniel under center sooner rather than later? Will a return to a more traditional offense make the traditionally cantankerous Eagles fans any happier? And just how often will Doug Pedersen mention that he was once Brett Favre‘s backup?
